About HOPE:
Established in 1986, HOPE is not alone in offering therapeutic equine-assisted activities! In addition to being a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, HOPE is an Affiliated Member of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), an international professional organization, that certifies instructors, provides accreditation standards and establishes operational guidelines for over 700 centers throughout the US and Canada. Even if you move, you should be able to find a program near you to continue your progress. NARHA provides many educational benefits for professionals and students alike, through regional and national conferences as well as online educational resources. Learn more about therapeutic riding at www.narha.org.
HOPE is a small program, however, in the past 4 years our student rosters have grown from only 7 students to 75! We now serve nearly 40 riders three times a week at our 2 operating sites—one at the Island County Fairgrounds, Langley, WA on Tuesdays and the other just south of Oak Harbor, WA on Thursdays and Fridays. This equates to at least 348 individual and group lessons each year. HOPE provides 6-week long sessions at both locations. Due to the weather, we are able to offer Spring, Summer and Fall lesson sessions only at the Langley site. While in Oak Harbor, because of our access to an enclosed arena, we also offer a Winter class.
