Victoria Louise Denka: 1952 – 2025

Victoria (“Vicki”) Louise Denka, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died on 7/17/25 surrounded by family at her home in Spokane, WA after a 10+ year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born Victoria Williams on 11/3/1952 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Walter Pershing and Eva Berneice Williams, Vicki is survived by her husband Mike Denka, her children Eva (Ollie Tripp) and Sam (Braelyn) Denka, two beloved grandchildren, Ford and Briar, and her brother, Lee Williams.

Vicki graduated from Spencer High School (1971) and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University (1975) and Master’s degree from University of Iowa (1978). She married her husband Mike in 1989 and they purchased a small farm on Whidbey Island, WA, where they raised their two kids and various farm animals.

Vicki spent her professional life in health care administration and health care information technology. Vicki and Mike also started their own business on Whidbey Island as an Internet Service Provider, which they later sold to Whidbey Telecom.

At various times throughout her life, Vicki volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, the YMCA Literary Program, Meals on Wheels and the South Whidbey Booster Club. Vicki enjoyed jogging, hiking, traveling and crafting. Above all, she adored her family and friends.

Vicki asked that her cremains be spread by her family at a private gathering. Vicki’s children ask for those who knew and loved her to put on the song “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, and spend a few moments remembering her and the impact she had on our world.
