Lillian Jones: August 29, 1946 – May 13, 2025

Lillian Jones, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Langley, Washington, on May 13, 2025.

She was born on August 29th, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, to Leonard and Julia Jones. Raised in Orange County, Lillian grew up in a culturally diverse community that nurtured her sense of curiosity, empathy, and deep connection with others. It was there she met her lifelong friend, Merrily, beginning a journey of friendship and exploration that would span decades.

Lillian studied at university, where her love of culture, art, and ideas blossomed. After graduation, she became a stewardess for American Airlines, a role that allowed her adventurous spirit to blossom. While traveling the country and building deep friendships, she met Edward Bassett, a pilot, and the love of her life.

Lillian’s life was an epic of wonder and discovery. From Esalen in Big Sur to the stillness of Mount Tamalpais and the vast quiet of the Grand Canyon, she sought out beauty, truth, and a deep connection with the natural world. She was intuitive and empathic, with a profound sense of kindness and an extraordinary capacity for love.

A gifted artist and devoted gardener, Lillian had a deep bond with the earth and a reverence for its rhythms. Her creativity and compassion were matched by a spiritual life grounded in love—she was guided by the wisdom of the Buddhist tradition and the sacred teachings of Christ and Mary Magdalene.

Lillian is remembered for her luminous warmth, her deep and abiding love, and the way she made everyone feel seen, understood, and cherished. She leaves behind a legacy of beauty, kindness, and grace.

She is survived by her son, Ethan Bassett, and her brother, Warren Jones. A memorial service will be held on August 2nd. For details, please contact Ethan at 2EthanBassett@gmail.com.
