Letter: Socialist thinking leads to stagnancy

Editor,

The recent letter by Mr. Noodle got me thinking. Am I really in a shrinking minority of malcontents on the wrong side of history or, as I see myself, a thinking person who views the left and right coast liberalism as something out of dystopian fiction? In college I learned that consensus science was often wrong, that fad ideology was lazy thinking, and history often was a better indicator of failed ideas than a smooth-talking prognosticator more interested in power than my well-being.

I know that Seattle and the surrounding environs has long been a draw for socialist thinking, and that no matter how many failed examples can be pointed to throughout history, there is a mindset of just a little more effort, money, education of this utopia is all that is needed to make the world into a social paradise.

Unfortunately, it always ignores human nature. Rather than making everyone better off, it reduces everyone to the lowest common level. No one strives to get ahead, invent the better mouse trap, go to the moon, or anything else. Everyone must live in little boxes, drive the same car, work in the same job and follow the same thinking. Don’t question or disagree with those overlords who tell you to wear a mask, or stand six feet apart, take the vaccine or else.

Bernie Sanders is a perfect example of a socialist ideologue, rich man demanding everyone obey his dictates from his multiple homes.

Four years of unknown functionaries running the country without oversight make today’s governance a breath of fresh air. Nothing is hidden, we know what is happening and if the polls are correct, approved by a majority of the population outside of those entrenched elites on both coasts. Is Trump a king? I doubt it. Is he acting unconstitutionally? Probably not. Testing the limits of executive power? Most likely. Driving Democrats insane? Definitely.

If Mr. Noodle can point to any actual evidence of overreach rather than repeat CNN propaganda, I will listen, but until then, I will think for myself.
